»Elementary Christian Education9 a.m. Family Faith Enrichment Activities During the 9 a.m. hour, we offer family faith enrichment activities such as intergenerational fellowship breakfasts and activities from Soul Sunday: A Family’s Guide to Exploring Faith and Teaching Tolerance by Carrie Brown-Wolf. Steve Hunt often spends time with us making music! These activities for children of all ages are open to family participation. Parents can take part in adult education, small groups, and special events while their children attend enrichment activities. 10 a.m. Elementary Christian Education Hour The elementary Christian education hour is held during 10 a.m. worship from September through May. All elementary children (first through fifth grades) begin the hour in the sanctuary, together with their families. Then the children are dismissed to their classrooms for church school, returning at the end to reconnect with the entire congregation. On communion Sundays (the first Sunday of every month) and throughout the summer, elementary children remain in worship with the option of engaging in special sermon time with a pastor in the chapel . In church school we use the Seasons of the Spirit (www.spiritseasons.com) curriculum which follows the themes presented in the preaching series. The children are divided into age-appropriate classes and engage in activities that support our biblical theme. We explore Bible stories using multiple education methods and tools, realizing the children learn by using a varietiy of senses and skills.
