OWL Leader Training
“Our Whole Lives/Sexuality and Our Faith” or OWL is a series of sexuality education programs developed by the UCC for folks of all ages. OWL is grounded in embodiment theology and is based on a philosophy of comprehensive sexuality education. This helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. OWL equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas: human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture. An intensive weekend training designed to prepare leaders to teach this curriculum will be coming to UCUCC on Jan. 9-11, 2009. Grounded in a holistic view of sexuality, the training provides not only facts about anatomy and human development, but also helps leaders to clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and understand the spiritual, emotional, social, and political aspects of sexuality. If you are interested in being trained to lead the OWL program, contact Sally Warner at sally.warner@gmail.com or 206-543-8543 (day). Find out more about OWL at www.ucc.org/justice/sexuality-education/our-whole-lives.html.
