The Bible is a collection of individual stories that describe encounters with God. By itself, each story is unique; a singular event, an individual perspective, one piece. There are multiple gospels because we can’t learn the whole of who Jesus is from just one narrator. We understand Jesus through the writings of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, who each bring a different lens to the story. When you put them together you see the bigger picture emerge: the whole made up of many parts.
This year’s Annual Report is the collected reflections of the past year of mission and ministry of University Congregational United Church of Christ. We are a church that believes God is still speaking. That means the collection of stories included in the Bible are not the only stories of encounters with the divine. Within the pages of this Annual Report you will find many individual stories of the good work we have done together in our 131st year as a church community. Within these pages, you will see specific and unique reflections—each one, a piece of who we are. Put them together and you can see a picture of our church in this time and this place. We invite you to read each of these pieces and notice how each one contributes to the greater whole. We invite you to read this report and see how God is still speaking in our midst.
