Many members of our church have learned, acted and been inspired through Common Power and preceding related organizations. We traveled on Civil Rights Pilgrimages, attended lectures by David Domke and history forums with AJ Musewe, and called prospective voters. The Love & Justice Committee invites you to give back and invest in this continuing work.
Seattle-based COMMON POWER “works to foster, support and amplify a democracy that is just and inclusive.” In their words, they…
- Drive Civic Action: Catalyze and bolster a public who takes action
- Build Lasting Community in which people learn from, support and grow with one another
- Promote New Leadership: Identify and invest in young, diverse leaders
We prize our democracy. But it is under siege through voting restrictions that disproportionately disenfranchise black and brown people, and through redistricting that consolidates power and skews representation. As a member of the Declaration for American Democracy coalition, Common Power is activating volunteers to advocate for free and fair voting and representation.
Let’s support their work generously! Visit the UCUCC website’s “Give” page to learn more about ways to support Common Power
