No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here at University Congregational United Church of Christ. Young, old, sure of your path, or still searching --- we invite you to join us in imagining love and justice - as Jesus did - in acting to change the world.

Right now, during the pandemic, we are still united as church. Our service is streamed on YouTube and Facebook. You will find the links just below this section on our home page. New services are offered weekly at 10 am on Sundays, and are available on line after that.

We strive to walk in the path of Jesus, and to offer an authentic welcome to everyone who walks through our door. If you are new to us, we would love to get to know you and answer your questions about our church, even though we cannot greet you in person. A member of our Welcome Committee, or a pastor, would be happy to correspond on email or talk with you on the phone. Click here to arrange for a "meeting."

Our worship service starts at 10 am and includes hymns, prayers, scripture reading and a sermon. It usually lasts about an hour. Right now we are worshiping online and will adjust this message once we are able to meet together in our sanctuary once again.  More information here.

Children are an important part of our community, and are welcome for all or part or the service.

Parking can be a challenge in the University District! Persistence, patience and an early start are keys to success.

UW has free parking on Sundays. Enter the main campus gate at NE 45th and 17th Ave NE and turn left past the toll booth. It's about a three-block walk to the church. The UW Meany Garage at 15th Ave. NE and NE 41st St. is a five-block walk.

The church also owns three parking lots - Lot A is across the street from the church on 16th Ave. E. Lot B is beneath Sortun Court, just north of the church on the east side of 16th Ave. E. (It closes at 2 p.m.) Lot C (for those with difficulty walking, young children and visitors) is at the corner of 15th NE and NE 45th St., next to the church.

If you need to be assured of a close parking spot, you can call the church office before noon on Friday to reserve one: 206-524-2322.

During this pandemic, we have discontinued our in-person lunches. We would love to meet with you via email or phone, however. Click here to arrange a meeting with a Welcome Committee Volunteer or pastor.

We can explore and explain a range of topics about our church, from history, to theology, to membership. Please contact us at the link above for more information.

We are an inter-generational church and strive to be family-friendly, with an active ministry for children and youth. All ages are welcome in worship. We also offer nursery and child-care, Younger children begin the service with us and usually leave after about 15 minutes. Older children have the option of leaving for a special sermon time. Junior high and high school youth meet at 9 am and then often sit together in worship. Give us a call at 206-524-2322 for more specifics.

Our programs for children and youth continue during this pandemic. Sign up at the bottom of the home page to receive our Children's Ministries and/or Youth Ministries newsletter.

Advent At Home kits for children, youth & families
Drop off/pick up by November 28
The Children’s & Youth Ministry are excited to offer children, youth and their families an Advent at Home Kit! This is of course open to grandparents who would like a kit to do at home with their grandkids! Or friends of UCUCC who are interested! The kit includes an Advent Devotional by Illustrated Ministry, crafts, coloring sheets, games and activities and a few treats/goodies. It’s a wonderful way to share in the spirit
together at home! We will also be offering some online connections each week to light the candle and share in the season together. We are grateful to the Phyllis & Ralph Swanson Endowment for helping to support this gift for families to practice faith and fun at home together. Sign-up using the link below to let us know your family would like to participate. You do not have to sign-up each individual person in your household. Just one person from your household is fine. Please sign up by Sunday, November 14 at

Activities & Care for Children in the lounge
Sundays November 7, 14, 21, 28
Beginning in November, we will be switching what we’re offering for children. We will not be offering our outdoor only childcare/Sunday school. We will be
offering staff and volunteer leaders to care for children and offer activities in the lounge for littles and elementary children. Parents are welcome to stay and watch worship on the screen in the lounge, or worship in the sanctuary. With parents’ permission, if the weather is nicer, we might head out to the playground space to play and then return to the lounge.

Pet Parade on Zoom
November 6, 3:00 pm
It’s time for a pet parade! Do you have a dog or a cat? Maybe chickens or lizard? It’s time to show them off in the pet parade. Join us Saturday November 6th at 3:00 pm on Zoom for a virtual pet parade. Be ready to tell us a little bit about your favorite friend. Don’t have a pet? No problem! Come and watch the pets or bring a favorite stuffed animal you’d like to introduce! Thank you to Amanda Van Dyck for hosting! Zoom will go out in the children’s ministry weekly email.

Children’s Advent Time
Sundays beginning November 28
Advent Begins Sunday, November 28 and every Sunday in Advent we will be offering a 15-minute time to gather on Zoom for a song, lighting the advent candle and a little sharing together. 4:00 pm for littles and their families, 4:30 pm for elementary children and their families.

Youth Ministry News

Youth Group continues
November 7, 14, 21, 28, 9:00 am
Youth Group for youth in grades 6 – 12 continues Sunday mornings at 9am. However, for the month of November, we are hoping to try Youth Group in a bit of a different way. We will be offering Youth Group online and in-person, but not trying to integrate the two. The programming would be dealing with the same topics, but different as needed to accommodate the different formats. We are working to put this fully into place. Be on the lookout for more info in the youth ministry weekly emails. For the youth attending
in-person, please remember masks are required.

Middle School online game nights
Wednesdays, 8:00 – 9:00 pm
The Van Dyck family is hosting weekly game nights on Wednesdays. All you need to do is pull up a seat and have access to two devices: one to Zoom call on (like a computer) so you can see the game board and a second device like a smart phone, tablet or iPad to use as your game controller by going to and entering our game code to play. Come every week or drop in when you can, it’s casual.
We are looking forward to playing together. Questions? Feel free to reach out to Amanda Van Dyck (also known as “Matthew’s Mom”) The Zoom link goes out in the weekly youth ministry email or you can email Amanda for the link.

November Junior/Senior Small Group
We are hoping to offer our small group gathering for our High School Juniors and Seniors! We have had a tricky time finding the date and time that works for folks. Watch the weekly emails for a date and time in November. We look forward to connecting with you and meeting each month to share about the journeys of this pivotal time in high school.
