No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here at University Congregational United Church of Christ. Young, old, sure of your path, or still searching --- we invite you to join us in imagining love and justice - as Jesus did - in acting to change the world.

Right now, during the pandemic, we are still united as church. Our service is streamed on YouTube and Facebook. You will find the links just below this section on our home page. New services are offered weekly at 10 am on Sundays, and are available on line after that.

We strive to walk in the path of Jesus, and to offer an authentic welcome to everyone who walks through our door. If you are new to us, we would love to get to know you and answer your questions about our church, even though we cannot greet you in person. A member of our Welcome Committee, or a pastor, would be happy to correspond on email or talk with you on the phone. Click here to arrange for a "meeting."

Our worship service starts at 10 am and includes hymns, prayers, scripture reading and a sermon. It usually lasts about an hour. Right now we are worshiping online and will adjust this message once we are able to meet together in our sanctuary once again.  More information here.

Children are an important part of our community, and are welcome for all or part or the service.

We are an inter-generational church and strive to be family-friendly, with an active ministry for children and youth. All ages are welcome in worship. We also offer nursery and child-care, Younger children begin the service with us and usually leave after about 15 minutes. Older children have the option of leaving for a special sermon time. Junior high and high school youth meet at 9 am and then often sit together in worship. Give us a call at 206-524-2322 for more specifics.

Our programs for children and youth continue during this pandemic. Sign up at the bottom of the home page to receive our Children's Ministries and/or Youth Ministries newsletter.

Children

Dear Elementary Children, Littles, and Families,
It has been quite the month; we had a great opportunity to gather at the church for Hopecoming Sunday. There were ponies, bubbles, and fry bread tacos. It was a joy to be together in person, and it reminded us of people who could not make it. Covid-19 has made us all have to make difficult decisions and through those decisions we find ourselves relying on scientific data, our own intuition and a variety of faith practices to help us get through.

As we start down the journey of Fall and Advent here are some exciting activities coming up:

Starting September 26: Outdoor drop off childcare/Sunday school begins (9:50 am – 11:00 am at the playground). We’ll run this for at least a month and then reevaluate. Families are also welcome to worship in the sanctuary with their kids, or participate in the family-friendly worship viewing room in the lounge.

October 10: Bible Sunday— each year we present our 3-year-olds and 1st graders with bibles! An email will be going out with more information, but you can sign up for your child (or grandchild!) to receive a bible here.

October 16: Apple Day, at Pastor Catherine’s farm.

Halloween: We are working on planning something for our Littles and Elementary Children for Halloween.

We know that parenting during this pandemic is especially hard. We want to offer families choices so that they can make the best decision for their family.are constantly evaluating our safety recommendations. Please read the Children’s email for more info.

Youth

Teen Feed
Wednesday, September 29, 6:00 – 6:45 pm
Teen Feed is operating daily with “to-go” meals. We are so grateful for Mike Zevenbergen’s continue leadership for our meal team! The youth program provides the meal every 5th Wednesday of the month (about 4 times a year). We have sign-ups for folks to bring cornbread, dessert, salad, and a vegetable side dish. We have taken our usual recipe and divided it up so more families can be a part of it. Please plan to bring your meal item to the church at 6:30 – 6:45 pm on Wednesday. Please be sure to try to keep food hot or cold depending on the item for food health safety.
