In order to survive spiritually during this time of so much uncertainty and chaos, I’ve been cutting back on engaging with the news. I am aware, however, of the large number of people who are depressed and feeling fear, confusion, and spiritual pain, including myself. Some articles estimate over 60% of the population is struggling right now.
My sense is that most of us are ready to break, just under the surface. So my phrase to myself and others is that we have to hold each other right now with great tenderness. That concept is beautifully expressed in the following reading. It is a call to the holiness in each of us.
Gentleness values the softly spoken word, the tender touch, the warm embrace, and the kind, approving gesture. When we are in the presence of holy people, it is the power of their gentleness that moves us the most…. It is their consideration of others that brings forth their fullest presence.
