The season of Advent is characterized as a time of waiting. We await the arrival of the light with the change of seasons. We await the celebration of the birth of the baby Jesus and the light that he brought into the world. But it is also a time of being both
quiet and alert at the same time as is suggested in the following reading.
Therefore, keep awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or at dawn, or else he may find you asleep when he comes suddenly. And what I say to you I say to all: Keep awake!
As the darkness surrounds us on these extended nights, use this time to go inward and to awaken to what is moving spiritually for you. What new thing might be being born in you in this season of
anticipation and waiting?

May this season bring great joy to you and your loved ones.
