No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here at University Congregational United Church of Christ. Young, old, sure of your path, or still searching --- we invite you to join us in imagining love and justice - as Jesus did - in acting to change the world.

We would love to welcome you at our in-person service each Sunday at 10 am. A digital service is also offered on line on Sunday evening at 5 pm. Our service is streamed on YouTube and Facebook. You will find the links just below this section on our home page. The weekly 5 pm service is  available on line after it is initially presented on Sundays..

We strive to walk in the path of Jesus, and to offer an authentic welcome to everyone who walks through our door or joins us online. If you are new to us, we would love to get to know you and answer your questions about our church, even if we cannot greet you in person. A member of our Welcome Committee, or a pastor, would be happy to correspond on email or talk with you on the phone. Click here to arrange for a meeting.

Our in-person worship service starts at 10 am and includes hymns, prayers, scripture reading and a sermon. It usually lasts about an hour and fifteen minute.. During the 10 am service we also offer live-streaming to a nearby room that offers those with compromised immune systems to be more isolated. We also offer a separate space for children, with supervised play and crafts during the 10 am service. Sections of the 10 am service are programed into the 5 pm digital service, which is offered as a "vespers."

Children are an important part of our community, and are welcome for all or part or the service.

UCUCC Parking Map

Parking can be a challenge in the University District! Persistence, patience and an early start are keys to success.

UW has free parking on Sundays. Enter the main campus gate at NE 45th and 17th Ave NE and turn left past the toll booth. It's about a three-block walk to the church. The UW Meany Garage at 15th Ave. NE and NE 41st St. is a five-block walk.

The church also owns three parking lots - Lot A is across the street from the church on 16th Ave. E. Lot B is beneath Sortun Court, just north of the church on the east side of 16th Ave. E. (It closes at 2 p.m.) Lot C (for those with difficulty walking, young children and visitors) is at the corner of 15th NE and NE 45th St., next to the church.

If you need to be assured of a close parking spot, you can call the church office before noon on Friday to reserve one: 206-524-2322.

From time time we host lunches for people who are interested in learning more about our church and/or possibly becoming a member.  We are also happy to meet with you over coffee or at the church to explore and explain a range of topics about our church, from history, to theology, to membership. Click here to arrange a meeting with a Welcome Committee Volunteer or pastor or to set up a meeting and/or to learn when the next Welcome Lunch is planned.

Thank you for your interest in our church community.

We are an inter-generational church and strive to be family-friendly, with an active ministry for children and youth. All ages are welcome in worship. We also offer nursery and child-care, Younger children begin the 10 am service with us and usually leave after about 15 minutes. Older children have the option of leaving for a special sermon time. Junior high and high school youth meet at 9 am and then often sit together in worship. Supporting our church through time, talent and treasure

There are many ways that each of us contributes our time and talents to the ministries of this church community in thanksgiving and response to the gifts that God has given us. Your kindness and hospitality, your prayers, your presence in the pews and online, your volunteer hours, your voice lifted in song. Each card you write, each time you show up to advocate for justice, each time we study and learn, celebrate and grieve, and each time we have fun together — we create the church.

Our treasure—the financial resources that keep the lights on, the building open and the staff and clergy working from day to day—is also important. Because of the financial support of members and friends, the ministries and missions of this congregation are thriving! Thank you for considering financial support for the work of our church. We believe that giving as a spiritual practice is extremely valuable and will grow your sense of belonging, integrity, and connection to the good work this church is doing. We rely on your participation, no matter what size your financial gift, and together we make it possible to be the church God is calling us to be.

Our 2025 Giving Campaign theme is “Building joy and hope… with God and one another.”

Here are some of your options for giving:

Offering time in online and in-person worship

As a community that worships both in-person and online, there are many opportunities to give to the church’s ministry, in thanksgiving and response to the gifts that God has given us, and as part of your regular spiritual practice of giving. You can give during in-person worship on Sunday mornings. You can write a check to UCUCC and mail it to the office, or drop it off during our office hours. You can also contribute cash; if you enclose the cash in an envelope with your name on it, your gift will be noted in your giving record. If you are participating in digital worship, you might wish to give online or write a check each week during the Offering Time in our online worship. You can also set up a secure online gift or pledge online through your MyUCUCC account.

If you would like a green offering envelope, we can arrange for some to be sent to you. These envelopes are for your own convenience (we don’t need your gift to come in an green offering envelope for us to accept it!) Click here to request giving envelopes.

Every month the Love and Justice Ministry chooses an organization to be the beneficiary of a special offering. Learn more about special offerings in the What’s up now section.

Online Giving

You can give online through our secure donation web site, Abundant Church.
Click here for instructions on setting up an account with Abundant Church to make a recurring gift or see your past giving history.

Automatic Recurring Deductions

This is a reliable, safe way to conveniently put your stewardship plan into action. Because your gift is given consistently, there’s no need to play “catch-up” at year-end or worry about forgotten checkbooks or missed Sunday offerings. You can set up automatic deductions through the Abundant Giving Platform. Instructions can be found here. Email bookkeeper@universityucc.org if you would like us to help you with this. Please consider connecting your bank account to our secure online server, to help us avoid paying fees associated with processing online credit card payments.

US Mail

We are also glad to accept checks by mail throughout the week. Just make the check payable to UCUCC and mail to the church at 4515 16th Ave NE, Seattle, WA  98105-4201. T processing of checks may take up to three weeks. Thank you for your patience!

Planned Giving

Planned giving enables you to perpetuate your financial support for the church beyond your lifetimes. For detailed information about your options, click on our Planned Giving Page: You can give a gift that keeps on giving long after you are gone. We are glad to talk further with you about how you can remember the church in ways that might help you now, and what to include in your will to accomplish what you want. Contact Kyna Shilling to talk further. You may also use our UCUCC Bequest Intention Form.docx to review your options and inform us of your plans (which you are able to change at any time).

Stock Donations

We are glad to accept donations of publicly traded securities.  Because gifts of stock made to UCUCC can give donors a double tax benefit, whether sold at a gain or loss, many consider giving such gifts.
