For the past nine months, members of the Assets Enhancement Task Force (AETF) have been meeting weekly to evaluate the state of our church assets and our needs for the future. We began with an analysis of staff pay compared to market rates and Seattle living wage, and made recommendations to the Church Council for wage justice. This fall we did a detailed inventory of our church financial, people, property, and relationship assets. This winter we’ve been working to summarize what we’ve learned, identify additional questions, and make a plan to communicate what we’ve learned to the congregation. At the Annual Meeting on May 21st, we’ll be presenting some ideas to address short-term and longer-term needs, based on our church values and shared beliefs. Between now and then, look for our AETF Inventory Report to be shared sometime in April, with a detailed summary of our findings. Any options that our group suggests will be based on what we’ve learned this past year, and we want to make sure that information is available to all of you—for full transparency on our work, and so any decisions made by the council or congregation can be informed by the same set of assumptions and the same data. Members of the AETF are Ed Coleman, Tim Croll, Don Guthrie, Carol Ingram, Cristin Miller, Carol Nelson, Rev. Amy Room, Kyna Shilling, and Kathy Williams.
