Do you feel called by the work of a non-profit committed to social justice? Have you served on a non-profit board or volunteered in support of an organization doing the important work of creating a more just world? Please consider completing an application for funding from the John G. Lewis Endowment. John Lewis was a long time UCUCC member, choir member, Love and Justice committee leader, and past church moderator who was passionate about social justice.
Projects funded will typically be partnerships with an outside organization that deliver services or advocate for systemic change for social justice. Funding proposals could be for seed money for a new project, or a new endeavor of an existing organization or team that increases the ability of the organization to carry out its mission. Projects that encourage active participation by our congregation are desirable, but benefits to the church should only be incidental. In 2022, approximately $5000 will be awarded to one organization.
Applications for funding will be due October 1, and awards will be made not later than November 1. The and application form and prospectus for the endowment will be available on the UCUCC website or by contacting Carol Nelson (cjnspinel@seanet.com) or Dan and Erin Johnson (danielanderin@comcast.net). You may also contact if you have questions about the application or an idea that you would like to explore with us.
We are excited to share with you information about how YOU can be part of this new UCUCC social justice initiative!
