Neighbors in Need (NIN) is a special mission offering of the United Church of Christ that supports ministries of justice and compassion in the United States.
In 2021, two-thirds of our Neighbors in Need offering will fund grants to United Church of Christ churches and organizations leading justice initiatives, advocacy efforts and direct service projects for those experiencing homelessness. One third of the offering will support the Council for American Indian Ministry.
Neighbors in Need grants—stories of faith and transformation
It will be a place to go when you no longer have a place of refuge. Already a sanctuary church, the Shadow Rock United Church of Christ in Phoenix received a 2021 Neighbors in Need grant for $10,000 to create Hope Station Nogales in Sonora, Mexico. It will be a place where people who have been deported and have relatives in the United States can find meals, shelter and assistance. It will bring this segment of refugees out of the large, several denomination sponsored shelter into a smaller place where they can more easily be helped with communication and other basic needs.
As always, our thanks for your very special offering to help the homeless and displaced, such as those by now finding hope and a new path at Hope Station Nogales.
