The Pastoral Search Committee has now been meeting for more than 20 weeks.
We reached a milestone in early August with the completion of our Local Church Profile. It is posted here on our website as part of a new page with information about the search. It is also available on the national website UCC (www.UCC.org).
In preparation for evaluating profiles we surveyed the congregation regarding their preferences. (The survey is now complete.) We appreciated hearing from all who responded. Thank you. We received 119 responses, yielding the following insights about qualities members would like in our new pastor:
- Has inspiring and prophetic preaching and teaching skills (70%)
- Is able to convey a compassionate and caring pastoral presence (70%)
- Works collaboratively and fosters teamwork. Is dedicated to the success of the team ministry model (58%)
So far, we have received more than 20 profiles from ministers who are interested in being considered for our opening. We plan to begin interviewing our top candidates in the next few weeks. We began receiving Minister Profiles on August 8. We met with Mike Denton, our Conference Minister, to gain understanding on how to read and evaluate these profiles, and then we jumped into the process with both feet!
We continue to hope that we can identify and call our new minister by the end of 2020.
