Our Writer in Residence, Debra Jarvis, has been a hospital and hospice chaplain for over 35 years. Many times she walked out of a home or a hospital room and thought, “Everyone should have heard that conversation!” Her patients shared their wisdom, insight and laughter with her. One thing they all talked about was how difficult it was to find anybody to listen to them talk about death. She started her podcast The Final Say: Conversations with People Facing Death, so listeners could get comfortable talking about death and–like she usually does–learn some things about life.
When she first got this idea, Peter Ilgenfritz was facilitating a group for men with life-threatening illnesses: Bob Fitzgerald, Harlan Young, Don Mallet, John Lewis and Bill Bailey. Deb interviewed them all except John who died before she got a chance to talk with him. (Don’s episode has not yet dropped.)
You can hear all these conversation and more on Apple podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts. You can also listen right on your computer at the website, www.TheFinalSayPodcast.com.
