All That She Carried: The Journey of Ashley’s Sack, a Black Family Keepsake by renowned historian Tiya Miles, traces the life of a single object handed down through three generations of Black women. In so doing she crafts an extraordinary testament to people who are left out of the archives. We will continue our reading journey with this book Tuesday September 20, 12:00-ish to 1:30 pm. This month we will read the chapter “Searching for Rose”. How do you look for someone when she has no last name and there are no birth records? In “Packing the Sack” and “Rose’s Inventory” we find out what research has to tell us about why Rose selected the items she did for her daughter. In October and November we will address the remaining chapters. New people are welcome. To get the link please contact beth.bartholomew.208@gmail.com or zoom@universityucc.org.
