As we look at the arc of our Visiting Theologian program and our time with Rev. Yolanda Norton, it is helpful to note we are past the half-way point. Throughout this time Rev. Norton has preached, taught liberation academy, led an ongoing discussion of The Color Purple and met with different groups and ministries in the church. We hosted the digital Beyoncé Mass and have finalized a date and location for an in-person spring mass (May 6, St. Mark’s Cathedral). We are learning the gift of centering Black women in our theological praxis and seeing how disruptive that is within our congregation.
Rev. Norton has provided us with a list of books that can allow us to explore these topics in greater depth. These are books that can ground us in thought and theology as we do the relational work of embodying a womanist ethic in cultivating our beloved community.
