Spring has arrived and now Pastor Steve is settling into his role as minister of worship. With that, there are a few shifts we can see in the preparation of services. Every Sunday morning service is a reflection of hours of preparation and participation. This has always been the case, but it looks different with recording and video editing. We are blessed to have so many people involved and talented curators for the digital medium.
Beginning in April, all congregational submission will need to be in by 10:00 am on the Wednesday before the service. To help with that, we will be working on the staff side to make sure everyone has their pieces (readings, prayers, call to worship) earlier as well. We’ve already started shifting the timeline for prayer requests and passing the peace submissions. These two pieces in particular require significant time to collect and create.
Because worship is a living, breathing expression, we also commit to being responsive. When significant moments happen in the world, the country, our community and our congregation we want our worship to reflect that responsiveness. The Pastoral Team and worship staff will remain flexible to make sure our collective experience on Sunday mornings (or whenever you tune in) feels authentic to who we are and who we are called to be.
Finally, this is a great time to extend an invitation to participate in our worship. We are thankful for all the individuals and families that have given offerings of recordings in the past and we are always looking to include new voices. Don’t let technology prevent you from sharing your gifts – if you want to participate we will help you. If you want to be a reader, record the call to worship, offer a musical selection, be a tech deacon or participate in anyway reach out to email@example.com, and we will get you to the right person.
