2020 Journal: All This Joy, all This Sorrow
2020 has been a year like none other in our memories. The profound and widespread grief of this year has been overwhelming. But, perhaps, it is only by walking through such grief that we are awakened to the possibilities of hope, transformation, and joy. This series invites speakers familiar and new to our UCUCC / Lecture Series audience to share what they are currently working on and to reflect on a deep grief and a deep joy each has experienced in 2020. Where can we find hope in a year such as this? Speakers from a diverse perspective will share their thoughts with us, with time for dialogue with our pastors, and with audience Q&A.
You are invited to set down your own trials of the week and transition into the weekend with these hope-filled conversations. Mark your calendar for Friday evenings, 7 pm, in October (10/16, 23, 30) and early November (11/6 and 11/13). Come to a single session or all sessions. Registration and speaker details to be announced soon. The lamentation of John Denver’s All This Joy, All This Sorrow, offers an inspiration, soundtrack, and poetry for the series.
